Diploma in Civil Engineering is a 3 years Diploma
certificate program. After passing 10th and 12th standard, students are
eligible to pursue this program. Civil Engineering is one of the core branches
of engineering. It is the second oldest engineering branch. It is an
engineering discipline that focuses on design, planning, construction and
maintenance of physically built as well as natural environment. It is a very
diverse field, consisting of various sub branches. Dams, roads, buildings,
canals etc are examples of physically built structures. Diploma programs in
“Civil Engineering” are not typically offered in the United States.
Instead, students might consider an associate’s degree program in civil
engineering technology, to prepare for engineer technician careers. Many
schools offer pre-engineering programs for students who are required to
complete prerequisite courses before being admitted into civil engineering
programs. A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering can be preparation for a
career as a licensed civil engineer. Certification is offered within many
sub-disciplines of the profession. When we think about civil engineering, the
first thing that comes to our mind is buildings! But civil engineers do more
than just designing and constructing buildings! Civil engineers have the
potential to work across various industries that require construction.
